This European Transfer Deadline Day Deal Would Have Shocked Manchester United Fans To The Core

|

Although for the majority of top clubs, the game is awash with money, it has to be recognised that clubs, courtesy of the Financial Fair Play regulations cannot splash out with gay abandon.

Back in the days when the summer transfer window was open and our hopes of mounting a challenge for the Premier League title were still buoyant, there was a nagging fear that our club-record signing, Paul Pogba, would jump ship to join Manchester United.

It was a subject we commented on numerous times during the summer with the following being a typical example: a-shock-development-when-it-comes-to-the-future-of-the-united-midfielder-paul-pogba.

However, whilst we all assumed that if Pogba were to leave Old Trafford it would be for Real Madrid, it appears that, on transfer deadline day, the French midfielder almost moved elsewhere.

Seemingly, according to The Sun, which is reporting on something uncovered in the European media, Pogba agreed a deal with Paris Saint-Germain. The deal would have seen the Frenchman collect a cool £429,000 a week when it comes to a salary.

But, the deal, it would seem, was never completed as Paris Saint-Germain were unable to complete the sale of Neymar, back to Barcelona, and were, therefore, unable to balance the books.

But, and here is the contentious point, if the deal had of been completed, Manchester United, due to the fact that the Premier League transfer window closed sometime before the European window, would have been left with a hefty transfer fee for the player but with no chance to bring in a replacement until January.

Now, to me, that would have been a shocking development, but what are your views on the subject matter?
