There’s A New Name In The Frame To Replace The Possibly Outgoing David de Gea

Whilst the mainstream media outlets are not awash with speculation linking Manchester United with the acquisition of a goalkeeper to the squad, it doesn’t take much digging to uncover transfer tittle-tattle on the subject.

Earlier this week, Click Here we covered the insinuation that a move for the Barcelona second-choice keeper, Jasper Cillessen, was unlikely to happen due to the Catalan club requesting too high a fee for the player.

Today though, the focus has shifted towards another possible recruit.

The news source, the Daily Record are reporting that attention has switched towards Mike Maignan.

To the uninitiated Maignan, just 23-years-of-age is currently on the books of the La Ligue side, Lille.

Last season, his performances were such that he was recognised by his fellow professionals as the goalkeeper of the year after keeping 15 clean sheets as Lille finished second to Paris Saint-Germain, in La Ligue.

His tremendous season was also recognised by the French national team manager, Didier Deschamps, who called the player up for international duty.

On paper, Maignan seems the ideal recruit to step into the void filled, if David de Gea leaves, giving Sergio Romero the competition needed for a healthy fight for the green jersey.
