This weekend has shown just how quickly things can turnaround.

Whilst, on this site, we`ve adopted an attitude that might be described as cocky when it comes to that 20th top-flight title win we`ve always inferred that it`d be dangerous to count our chickens before they`ve hatched.

With Everton getting a well-earned 4-4 draw, thanks to some nightmare defending by us and with City strolling to a 2-0 win at Wolves, the balance has, once again, swung in their direction.

Mathematics show that if we lose to City, next Monday, in a crucial derby match at the Etihad, then we need City to slip up on the home run, a situation nobody seriously envisaged when we went eight points ahead not that long ago.

Naturally, the build up to the game, next Monday evening, will be intense, with parties, from both camps, upping the ante. Following the 4-4 draw yesterday, Sir Alex Ferguson was quick to start the ball rolling, remarking,

“We need to get a result at the Etihad, there is no question about that – we need to perform. There is no reason why we cannot do that.”

“The game next Monday would always be a derby game of highest proportions and this won`t be any different.”

One thing is for certain, it`ll not be a place for the faint-hearted!
