Season ticket prices will be frozen for next season, the club announced. Recent press speculation suggested that there would be another increase but these proved unfounded, thankfully.

Do the Glazers feel the heat? With takeover rumours, talks about the debt level and fan protests, they might have decided to stay out of the firing line. After all, the last few weeks have been very successful commercially so no need to further antagonise the fans with a move that is very doubtful to bring extra revenue.

Don’t get fooled though: it does not necessarily mean that the Glazers are considering giving up on United. Freezing the season ticket prices in the current economic climate is actually the smartest possible business decision, considering that the demand for season tickets hasn’t been this low for almost two decades. They probably resigned themselves to the fact that increasing the prices even further would only mean empty seats in the stadium. And nobody wants that.
