That Word Reluctance!

Tonight, so many are suggesting, could be Louis van Gaal`s last night in charge of Manchester United Football Club.

If Manchester United become the victims of a giant-killing, at the hands of Shrewsbury Town, in the FA Cup fifth round tie, many suspect that Louis van Gaal will be shown the door by those who make such decisions at Old Trafford.

However, if that were to be the case, then the immediate focus would be on who would take over the managerial role at Old Trafford.

In the tabloid press this morning, in The Sun, the inference is given that Ryan Giggs would be willing to take the job on a permanent basis but is not willing to take the job on as a temporary solution, as was the case when David Moyes was axed.

It seems to me to be a case of Ryan, and who can blame him, trying to force the club to give him the role that many believe will be rightfully his when Louis van Gaal`s time is up.

But the inference is also given, by our source, that whilst there is a reluctance on Ryan`s part to take the role on a temporary basis there is also a reluctance to axe Louis van Gaal as Manchester United don`t want to be forced into giving the Dutchman a £10 million cheque as compensation for is axing.
