At half time with the tie far from being delicately poised, I wasn`t the only United fan, I`d guess, who wanted to see our goal tally increase.

But it didn`t end up like that did it!

City scored early on and I guess I wasn`t the only one keen to hear Chris Foy blow that final whistle with City scrapping hard for an equaliser.

After the game, Sir Alex Ferguson gave his views on that second half performance, remarking to the media,

“We made them better than they were/”

“We were careless in the second half and we took our foot off the pedal.”

“They waited for us to make mistakes and we made them.”

“It made it into a score-line that it shouldn`t have been. We should have been home and dry.”

Indeed we should and, this morning, we should have had revenge for that October drubbing, such was our first half dominance.
