Amongst the glory of keeping our 100% unbeaten run going, and setting anew record of 18 successive home wins, was a moment of madness.

It came seconds after Wayne Rooney, from three yards out, had hit the post and in the ensuing melee Ashley Cole`s challenge left Javier Hernandez writhing in agony.

Speaking about the tackle, in his post match interview, Sir Alex Ferguson was none too pleased, remarking,

“It was a shocking tackle. He`s very reckless at times, Ashley Cole. He is committed of course but he sometimes can go over the edge a bit and that tackle was an example of that.”

“The referee has booked him for it so I don`t know why it wasn`t a penalty. I must ask him.”

“We will have to see what the damage is in the morning. His leg is numb. He could be out for a couple of weeks.”

With Danny Welbeck also on the treatment table could this be an opportunity for Berbatov, Owen or Macheda to stake a claim for a place alongside Rooney?
