I`m not sure we could call it a revolutionary tactic as many teams, throughout time, have played with a back three, instead of a back-four, very successfully.

But, on the back of our poor start to the season whereby we`ve yet to win a game, some pundits are stating our new tactical shape is the reason why the side appears to be at sixes and sevens.

However, when pushed on the subject at a press conference, Louis van Gaal, perhaps understandably, was quick to dispel those fears remarking,

“I think we have no problem when the opponent has the ball because we have defended very well.”

“We don`t give any chances away – or very few chances. When you see our matches, I think David De Gea has to deal with two or three balls in a game.”

“But our problem is when we have the ball – we have to build up play to improve. I don`t think our defence is weak.”

Who`ll get the debate started then?
