In attempt for his Manchester United players to get over their World Cup disappointment, Erik ten Hag has brought in a team of specialist mind coaches [via The Telegraph].
Ten Hag has engaged with The Netherlands company Talent Academy Group in an attempt to ensure that bis players are emotionally in the right frame of mind to get over their World Cup adventures and join the group.
Rainier Koers, a senior performance coach with TAG [via The Telegraph] has even been working with ten Hag as James Ducker from The Telegraph reported that Koers was with the United players out in Spain for their winter training camp so that he can get to know the players that he will be working with.
According to the Daily Mail, the United players will be able to speak with the mind coaches at least two times a week [Daily Mail].
The majority of United’s World Cup stars, who were eliminated at the quarter-final stage are due to be back training with the team at Carrington today, however, it remains to be seen whether or not they will start the game against Burnley due to the quick turnaround.
The players who are due to be back today can expect to be introduced to the mind coaches, which can be useful because all of the players might be returning in different frames of mind so the mind coaches can provide a counselling support for those that need it, and this can only benefit United as it puts the players in a better frame of mind mentally to go out and perform.
Even though Lisandro Martinez is a World Cup winner, he too will most likely need counselling at some point as he gets to grips with this life-changing event and as for Varane he will only have a few days to process the defeat on Sunday, which is why the mind coaches can be useful.
United are back in action in the Carabao Cup tomorrow, which will be the team’s first competitive match since that dramatic 2-1 win over Fulham las month. After the Burnley game, attentions turn to the Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on the 27th December.
