Oh well. Another year, another season, another Champions League group stage. And another two games against Celtic.

We all remember what it was like two seasons ago. The whole British press were talking about nothing else during the build-up to the game but this ‘Battle of Britain’.

We were reminded how United fared against Scottish opposition, and against Celtic in particular and countless ex-players spoke out, telling us what a brilliant game it would be.

This will swing into overdrive once again, not least to compensate for the predictability of the group stages. And I’m not looking forward to it because it’s something you can’t ignore.

Don’t get me wrong though, I’m looking forward to these games. Celtic have a good team which plays better football than any other Scottish side. The match at Old Trafford in 2006 actually lived up to the hype – but it’s the hype itself I’m bored of.
