Speculation linking Manchester United with a move for Raheem Sterling went global yesterday.

The inference that Manchester United could be about to buck a trend that has been in place since before World War II whereby trade between the two clubs just isn`t the done thing, looked to be ready to be broken.

However, the vibes coming back from Anfield were of the negative variety, something along the lines of hell will freeze over first.

But, as the day went on the vibes coming out of Anfield were that Sterling was making himself so unpopular, on Merseyside, a summer sale could well be in the offering.

Unfortunately, it looks as if that curt response to our enquiry remains and that if Sterling is to be chased out of Liverpool, by the locals, it is more than likely that he`ll end up at Manchester City with it being indicated that our neighbours are preparing to spend something in the region of £45 million to land the unsettled England international.
