Solksjaer Confirms That Central Defender Does Have An Old Trafford Future

|

During the dark days, even more so the last month or so, when Jose Mourinho was at the Manchester United managerial helm, the long-term future of several of the squad became the subject of media speculation.

One player who the media cast aspersions as to whether he would remain at Old Trafford was our centre-back, Eric Bailly.

Despite being one of Jose Mourinho’s many buys, it seemed, to me, that Mourinho wasn’t convinced that the 24-year-old was the real deal and Bailly always constant talk of bringing in a world-class centre-back, in a transfer window, affected his game.

But, like so many others, the introduction of Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has seen Bailly’s game stepped up to another level and, alongside Victor Lindelof, for me, they would be the ideal central defensive partnership to take Manchester United on this season, with Phil Jones as back-up.

As we’ve come to accept over the years, confidence can play a huge part in how a footballer plays, some just get on with it regardless but others appreciate a bit of praise and molly-coddling.

But, if it is a confidence thing with Bailly, then the defender, as reported by the tabloid publication, the Sun, will take further confidence from being told, by Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, that he is part of his Old Trafford plans.

At this rate, Bailly will negate our need for the recruitment of that world-class centre-back we’re continually calling for!

I read your article and was in full agreement up until you for some odd reason decided Phil Jones was worth the back up slot to the centre back pairing.Phil Jones isn’t worth being back up to our under 18’s never mind the full team squad
