Any aspirations our young defender, Chris Smalling, had of finishing the season with a flourish have been dashed.
Manchester United have released a statement confirming that Smalling has picked up a groin injury that will see him miss the last game of the season up at Sunderland whilst also missing the Euro 2012 Finals.
Talking about the injury, Sir Alex Ferguson told the media,
‘Chris has suffered a bad injury. It is a groin muscle injury and he’ll miss the European Championship.’
Tough luck on Chris but he`s young enough to play his part in many more international finals over the coming years.
