At 2-0 down with only 45-minutes to play most teams would almost ‘expect’ defeat, but United are not ‘most teams’ are they! They are the past masters at dramatic comebacks and they managed another against Manchester rivals City on Sunday.

As he told sky sports, Sir Alex ‘couldn’t believe’ that United came in at 2-0 down at half-time but thought United got what they deserved in the end: ‘I couldn’t believe we were 2-0 down at half-time, we had controlled the game.

‘But goals change games and they got the first one and the second just before half-time was a killer blow for us. But credit to the players they kept their heads, they played their football and they got what they deserved.’

The legendary United manager praised his youthful squad, which is starting to look more and more like it could continue the Red Devil’s dominance on the English game from the past 20-years or so.

He also got a little dig in at City by claiming ‘rough tackling’ from Roberto Mancini’s side: ‘we took 13 players 23 or under on our US pre-season tour. Then we have Chicharito and Valencia, all young players, we’ve got a really good squad.

‘We weren’t intimidated by rough tackling, we just got the ball down and kept playing. I thought it was fantastic.’

One thing United never are is ‘beaten’, I wonder if opposition sides will ever learn this…
