Paul Scholes knows that Manchester United have to mount a serious bid to win the Premiership title back this season after seeing our stranglehold on the league challenged by Chelski and their money.

The 31-year-old midfield dynamo, who is gaining match fitness following a long lay off due to vision trouble, said:

‘We’ve won a lot in the past, but that doesn’t matter anymore. It’s what happens now that is important. We want to win the title every season and we want the title back. It isn’t nice to see Chelsea pick the trophy up, so winning the Premiership is more important than winning the Champions League for me.’

‘The Champions League is big, but being English and with the Premiership being so massive, I think we have to concentrate on winning that. We have said for the last two seasons that this is the year we are going to catch Chelsea, though, and we haven’t managed it. We can only hope we do it this season.”
