United might have scored eight goals in the last two games but that does not prevent Paul Scholes from being modest when asked about our title chances.

Scholesy scored United’s third goal in the 4-0 demolition of Spurs and he’s been impressive throughout the season. A lot of pundits tip him to be player of the year just as United are tipped to finish as champions now but Scholes refused to declare the title race finished.

‘There will be a few twists and turns yet,’ he said.

‘Both teams have got some difficult games left, especially when you look at our away games. There is a long way to go.’

Scholes scored five goals in the league and one in the Champions League but he’s unhappy with that haul – no wonder if we remember 2003 when he finished with 14 league goals.

‘I would like to have a few more goals,’ he said. ‘I have six at the moment. Hopefully, there are more to come.’
