As suspected by many, Paul Scholes has decided to hang up his boots.

Scholes, who may believed was going to announce his decision before the Champions League Final but was, supposedly, persuaded to wait until after, has decided that after 676 appearances and 150 goals, enough is enough.

Scholes, who has won 10 Premier League titles with United since making his debut in 1994, is expected to join the United coaching staff.

Talking about his decision, Scholes has remarked,

“This was not a decision I`ve taken lightly but I feel now is the right time for me to stop playing.”

“I am not a man of many words but I can honestly say that playing football is all I ever wanted to do and to have had such a long and successful career at Manchester United has been a real honour.”

“To have been part of the team that helped the club reach that 19th title is a great privilege.”

On behalf of everyone at Vital Manchester United, I`d like to thank Paul for everything he`s done for this club, his presence on the playing field will be sorely missed!
