Three goals in less than six minutes showed just how fragile our hopes of qualifying for a top-four place are.

From looking comfortable at 0-0, we suddenly collapsed like a house of cards and were left licking our wounds as the team-coach made its way out of North London.

The stark reality is that Spurs showed there was a gulf in class between the two sides yesterday with Mauricio Pochettino`s side looking fresher and more potent, whereas, in some areas of the field, it was men against boys.

Following the 3-0 rout our French midfielder, Morgan Schneiderlin, spoke to the media about Manchester United`s collapse and pointed the finger of blame squarely in the right place, remarking,

‘After the first goal we lost a bit of shape, maybe it was a mental thing. In the first half we had possession and caused a few problems but after the goal it happened so quickly, three goals so quick cannot happen. Everyone has their head down like you can imagine. No-one would have thought that after 60 minutes it would have been 3-0. But fair play to them they got us when we were a bit down. Like I say it is us to blame.’

Yes it was and now those Champions League dreams for next season look to be fading away!
