Saturday Sees Somebody With A Point To Prove Return To Old Trafford

|

This Saturday, Crystal Palace are the visitors to Old Trafford with Manchester United looking to take the three points on offer in order to keep their slim chances of catching the league leaders, Manchester City, in the title race.

Amongst the opposition ranks will be a certain Wilfried Zaha.

Zaha, as you may recall, was the last big-money signing made by Sir Alex Ferguson.

However, despite possessing a huge amount of talent the move never quite worked out for the player and his Old Trafford career was cut short when he moved back to Selhurst Park.

Since returning to South London, Zaha’s career has been rejuvenated and, if his current form continues, it looks increasingly likely that Crystal Palace will face a huge fight to hold on to his services, especially if a huge fee is offered for his services.

When, this weekend, when Zaha emerges from the Crystal Palace coach to head into the ground, I can’t help wondering if the player wonders what might have been.

If that short spell with Manchester United had gone better there’s no doubt he’d still be with us.

Indeed, I have to ask the engaging question as to whether both parties should have persevered a little longer in the hope matters would improve and Zaha would realise, in a Manchester United shirt, the huge potential he arrived with.

I guess it’s going to remain one of the great unanswered questions of the last few years.

Let’s hope that he doesn’t make it the kind of return that sees him be the star of the show!
