Sancho can learn from Rashford – Opinion

|

I think the fact that Jadon Sancho is not working at Carrington with his Manchester United team-mates and that he is working on an individual programme can do wonders for him [Vital United].

If the United wide-man is looking for inspiration, then I think he should look to Marcus Rashford, who after a difficult year last year has come out the other side.

It is inevitable during a football career, that players will go through stages where they are not performing at their best and this is what is happening with Sancho but I think the former Borussia Dortmund man has the mental strength to overcome his latest challenge.

Sancho enjoyed a brilliant start under Erik ten Hag as he was one of United’s standout players during pre-season and in the opening five games of the season, in which he scored the opening goal in the win Liverpool at Old Trafford and scored the match-winning goal away to Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

You do not get to the levels that Sancho got to at Dortmund, where he scored 50 goals and registered 64 assists in Germany [Transfermarkt], if you are not a good player and the United man just needs to keep focus and use Rashford as his inspiration.

The United number 10 has shown his talents on the world stage after scoring three goals for England during the World Cup, and he has also got his form back with United, scoring eight goals in all competitions [Transfermarkt], which is more than what he got in the entirety of last season, where he scored five goals in all competitions [Transfermarkt].

Rashford can also provide inspiration for Sancho because he too missed a penalty for England in the European Championships final, so he will know what Sancho is going through. Even though Rashford endured a difficult season last year, he has improved under the guidance of ten Hag.

Listening and taking the Dutchman’s advice, just like Rashford has done will stand Sancho in good stead, because United have a manager who cares for his players and has their best interests at heart.

The United fans will be patient with Sancho, so he has them on his side and if he can knuckles down, works hard, then he will come out of this challenging period, just like his United team-mate, Marcus Rashford has done.
