Louis Saha shrugged off his minor calf injury to be available for the Liverpool game on Saturday, according to the man himself.

Saha came off to make way for Wayne Rooney and you could know it was an injury – Fergie could not have been disappointed with the strikers’ performance as Saha was the best player on the park. There were some fears about whether he would be able to play at Anfield but the Frenchman dispelled the doubts.

‘The injury is not too bad,” he told MUTV. “It`s just a calf cramp after I got a few kicks on it so I think it was better for me to come off.’

‘It’s been a long time since I scored,’ he admitted. ‘I’m looking for more confidence and more minutes to play, which is always important for a striker.’

Please Fergie, let Saha start at Anfield. Larsson is a great striker as a substitute but at 35 we can’t expect him to play more than 30 minutes at such a highly demanding place like Anfield. We will need Saha’s mobility and athleticism to cause problems for Liverpool and Larsson’s ruthlessness will be useful if things do not go as planned.

I still fear that due to the imminent departure of the Swede, he would get the nod ahead of Saha once again.
