Sir Alex Ferguson could pair Ruud van Nistelrooy and Louis Saha in attack against Middlesbrough on Monday.

It is a ‘must win’ fixture as United try and hold off Liverpool for that Premiership second place.

Obviously Wayne Rooney is definitely missing following the injury he picked up in Saturday’s defeat at Chelsea. So Ferguson could choose both the men who have been vying for a place in United’s starting line-up recently.

Mikael Silvestre had another poor game on Saturday and is facing the axe. Gabriel Heinze is available after a minor groin strain and the Argentinian could start, although Patrice Evra is also a possibility in the left-back role.
