There are conflicting stories relating to the future of Robin Van Persie in the press this morning.

Yesterday the buzz was that the Dutch striker was nailed on to sign for United but today opinions seem to be split.

Whilst the Daily Mirror remains insistent that a deal will be brokered before the commencement of the new season, with United paying Arsenal £22 million for the Premier League`s leading goal-scorer last season, the Sun paints a very different picture.

The Sun boldly states that no club has met Arsenal`s asking price and that Van Persie will remain at the Emirates Stadium.

Furthermore, reports yesterday that inferred Van Persie was booed at the weekend by Arsenal fans now appear to be false with it now being inferred that they were in fact applauding him.

If a deal is to be done for the player, in time for the big kick-off, then things had better start moving pretty soon.
