The rumours are gathering pace with regards to the probability of Wayne Rooney leaving Manchester United before the Chinese Super League transfer window closes next Tuesday.

Our good friends at the popular tabloid publication, The Sun, lead the way with the inference that an offer of £1 million a week could see the all-time top scorer at Manchester United opt for a lifestyle change.

Our referenced source also provides some quotes from Jose Mourinho, who upon being asked as to whether the 31-year-old would be leaving before next Tuesday, responded with,

“You have to ask him.

“I cannot guarantee I`m here next week, so how can I guarantee that a player is here next season.

“What I can guarantee is that if one day Wayne leaves the club, it`s not because I want him to.

“I would never push a legend of this club to another destiny.

“You have to ask him if he sees himself staying for the rest of his career, or sees himself moving.”

Mourinho not giving away too much there.

Elsewhere, The Telegraph takes another angle on the probability of Rooney exiting Old Trafford.

The more up-market publication suggests the final decision could rest on whether Rooney, after missing recent games through injury, is selected as part of the 18-man squad for the forthcoming EFL Cup Final, at Wembley, against Southampton.

If Rooney isn`t selected, this particular source reckons it could be cheerio from our all-time leading scorer.

We may well be set for an interesting couple of days ahead of us!
