In our match preview we predicted that having been substituted in the previous game, Wayne Rooney would be up for it this time around.

As it turned out Wayne helped himself to a brace but didn`t look to be in top form and, although he was on a hat-trick he was withdrawn for the second game on the trot.

Speaking about the situation afterwards, Sir Alex Ferguson remarked about Rooney,

“Wayne has to play on the edge of a game, when it is really close and competitive.”

“When the game gets to the casual bit he is worse than the rest of them. He gets really casual about it.”

“It is better when he is on the edge, then he is marvelous.”

All rather strange don`t you think!
