Sir Alex Ferguson stated after the Barcelona game that Wayne Rooney would be involved against West Ham for sure. Newspaper reports suggest he was overly optimistic.

The Times claims Rooney could not train yesterday and is still in pain so unless a dramatic improvement is achieved he might not play at all. The newspaper even went on to suggest that his aggravated hip injury could be serious enough to force him miss our last game, at Wigan which could decide the title race.

Well, I’m worried. We got away with playing without Wayne Rooney against Barcelona therefore logic suggests that West Ham and Wigan should cause no problems either. But in football things don’t work like that and I’d say that the chances of winning three successive games without Rooney are very slim for me.

The Times says that his participation in the Champions League final should not be in doubt which is, of course, good. But let us pray that he will play against West Ham – I can’t wait for Fergie’s afternoon press conference!
