Just as he was hitting top form injury has struck Rooney, United and England a huge blow.

The injury was picked up on Friday’s training session, in which Rooney damaged jis ankle. Though details are yet to be announced, what is certain is that the talismanic forward will almost certainly miss the next four weeks.

As i said before, there is yet to be any official conformation from United, so in the mean-time letrs hear what current England coach Steve Maclaren thinks of the news ahead of his potentially crucial Euro 2008 qualifier.

‘It’s hugely disappointing.’

‘Given the form he has been in and the contribution he has made to England over the last two games means it is a blow.’

‘But we have to deal with it, like we have dealt with situations like these before.’

‘It is an opportunity for someone else to come and do a job.’

It is the second long-term injury Rooney has suffered this season, and though Louis Saha can beat anyone on his day, i am not looking forawrd to putting all our trust in the Frenchman fore such a long perios of time. No-one more so than Carlos Tevez will be dissapointed by the news as in recent weeks he and Rooney had built up an awesome understanding of each other.

All of us here at Vital Man Utd wish Rooney a speedy recovery, and in the meantime beg Saha to keep fit.

More to follow…
