Thursday would appear to be the day when we find out how UEFA have reacted to Wayne Rooney`s petulant kick out that saw him red-carded in Montenegro.

Rooney, who picked up the second red-card of his England career, could very well be given an additional game ban to go with the game ban he`s anticipating for the offence.

Apparently, the red card Rooney received against Portugal, when he stamped on Ricardo Carvalho may see the ban extended too two games.

To try and offset the prospect of this happening Rooney has written a letter to UEFA which forms part of a mitigation package the Football Association are preparing.

They are also hoping that the fact that Wayne left the field of play without any protestations could work in his favour.

Personally, I can`t help thinking it`s akin to holding out a begging bowl to UEFA and when you consider how they love to ride rough-shod over anything English, don`t be too surprised if all this mitigation presentation has no effect whatsoever!
