Wayne Rooney scored with his last touch (OK, it probably wasn’t his last touch in that game as he had been hobbling around for five minutes before he was substituted) before his injury and now, after spending 35 days on the sidelines, is back and scored with his first touch. Unsurprisingly, he believes that the club was correct to restrain him until now.

‘I feel good, maybe I could have played last week but I think the wise decision was not to play me and give me another few days training and then it would be a lot better and stronger,’ Rooney told Sky Sports News.

‘In the last three games I have scored three goals all inside the six-yard box.

‘It is something I have been working on, obviously Dimitar and Carlos like to play a bit deeper so I have had to change a little bit and thankfully I am getting the benefits of it now.’

So Rooney changed his game again a bit. He is now almost the complete footballer, he can play almost any attacking role. I don’t know about you but I feel much more secure now that he’s back – United are just not the same without him.
