Having made his comeback from injury, Rio Ferdinand had a game whereby he was involved in the thick of it.

In fact Rio, on another day could have seen red, after having been previously booked, for the trip on Charlie Adam that led to the Liverpool goal.

Rio though thought Adam made a meal of it, commenting immediately after the game,

‘There was the slightest contact but not enough to make a 12 or 13 stone man fall over.”

Probably the view of many United supporters.

But as for the result, Rio was more upbeat, adding,

‘I’ll take a point. They created a couple of chances but we controlled parts of the second half and played good football. Considering what we’ve gone through in the past couple of years [losing three times at Anfield in a row], it’s not a bad result.’

Not sure I`ll agree with that, after all it is Liverpool is it not!
