Still taking a lengthy look at the proceedings that occurred at St James Park, on Sunday, it`s interesting to see that Rio Ferdinand`s performance has attracted some praise.

At a time whereby Rio`s chances of playing for England appear to have hit a new low, our centre back gave an assured performance behind the midfield diamond, prompting his team-mate, Jonny Evans, to remark,

“Rio is quality. He is so experienced. He cruises through games. It looks like he could play on and on.”

Also, a former United legend, Gary Pallister is intimating, in a red-top publication this morning, that with John Terry having walked away from international football, Roy Hodgson should do his utmost to get the experience of Rio into that England defence.

Anyone care to agree or disagree?
