There are two things to be sweating about after yesterday night’s brilliant performance: will the 1-0 lead be enough at the Emirates in a week’s time and will Rio Ferdinand be fit to play?

The defender, who had a great game, was injured by his own keeper, Edwin van der Sar and he’s got a rib injury. He’s going for a scan and if it’s a fracture then he’ll miss at least two or three weeks which would be a severe blow for United.

Sir Alex promised largely the same back-four he used against Arsenal will take on Middlesbrough, with the exception of Ferdinand: Jonny Evans is expected to deputise for him. Boro’s attacking play is not exactly deadly so I hope the young lad will be fine. The real concern is whether Rio will be fit for the second leg against Arsenal. If he’ll play, we’ll have an excellent chance of holding on to our advantage.
