Kieran Richardson admitted he might quit Old Trafford in search for first-team football.

The young winger has had a frustrating season: fans got on his back for a string of disappointing performances and even the U21 European Championships did not work out perfectly for him.

With the acquisition of Nani and Anderson, both capable of playing on the left, Richardson’s hopes of making it at Old Trafford are very, very slim and many, including the author of this piece, believe that it would be a wise decision for him to seek a new challenge elsewhere – and for the first time, he’s shown some inclination towards it.

‘If you’re getting older and not playing on a regular basis, you do have to think about moving on,’ he told the News of The World.

‘I’ve already said I want to carry on being a United player.

He added that he did not know about going out on loan and I think that would be pointless. We all know he will not be a world-class player, we don’t need him, we have plenty of players in his position. He’s 23, it just does not make sense to loan out a player of this age again. Interest from Sunderland is welcome I think.
