We all remember our first meeting with Jose Mourinho, don’t we? His sprint down the touchline at Old Trafford in 2004 seriously wounded our pride and it took a long time to exact proper retribution for it.

The first step was reclaiming the league crown from Mourinho’s Chelsea: check. Next step was knocking out Mourinho’s current team, Inter, at the same stage his Porto team had defeated us at: check.

Now we’re at the final step of this mission: teach Porto a lesson. They are much weaker than five years ago when they went on to win the competition while we are much stronger. We’re clear favourites to reach the semi-final of the Champions League for the third successive season.

After the disastrous 2005/06 campaign, we paid back our debts to Benfica and Lille the next year, knocking out both. It’s time to banish the ghost of 2004 as well, for ever.
