The David De Gea to Real Madrid saga seems to have been going on for an age now.

Bit whilst many suspect De Gea will be flying the United nest this summer, could Manchester United use his apparent disaster to their benefit?

This morning rumours are flying about that suggest that Real Madrid could look favourably on a deal that could see their 27-year-old French international, Karim Benzema, move to Old Trafford.

The thinking behind the deal being that Real Madrid believe that any such move would speed up the acquisition of De Gea.

It’s speculation supported by the fact it is also being reported that Ed Woodward has, apparently, twice been seen having talks with the strikers’ agent.

Perhaps we should pull a fast one, sign Benzema now and then put a not-for-sale (yet) sticker on De Gea!
