Manchester United are in Germany this evening playing their last fixture of Group H.
They do so knowing qualification is precariously balanced and a combination of results could either see Manchester United qualify for the knockout stages or drop into the much-maligned Europa League.
A win or a draw would see Manchester United remain in the Champions League but if RB Leipzig, semi-finalists last year, win then it is Thursday night European competition for Manchester United.
In essence, tonight’s fixture is, simply, a knockout fixture but a fixture with so much at stake.
It will not be a game for the faint-hearted or those with a nervous disposition.
