Pochettino Touted As The Man To Replace Axed United Boss

|

Naturally, speculation, following the axing of Jose Mourinho, is going to emerge as to who the long-term replacement will be at Old Trafford.

With the club looking to wait until the end of the season before appointing somebody on a permanent basis, the possibility of that person being Mauricio Pochettini is being bandied about.

Indeed, speaking to Sky Sports and as reported by the BBC, the former Manchester United defender and now a well-respected pundit on Sky Sports, Gary Neville is quoted as remarking about the current Tottenham Hotspur manager:

“I said last season that the next manager of Man Utd should be Pochettino.

“If I look at the values of United, you look at Pochettino’s belief in young players at Southampton and with Tottenham.

“You look at his performance levels and style of play, the way in which he carries himself at all times – publicly and in private – I have been fortunate enough to spend two or three days at Tottenham’s training ground. And for me, he just feels like the most ideal candidate.”

I’m sure that a large majority of Manchester United supporters would agree, but would Pochettino be willing to leave North London?

Since joining Tottenham Hotspur, from Southampton, Pochettino has turned them into a title-chasing side that embarks on Champions League football regularly. His transfer funds have been spent wisely and the club are about to move into a new state-of-the-art stadium.

Would Pochettino be willing to leave all that to, what amounts to, starting from virtually scratch again?

Somehow I doubt it!
