There had been fears that Manchester United could lose Andreas Pereira in a similar manner to which they lost Paul Pogba.

Pogba was allowed to leave Old Trafford after a failure to agree a new contract, a failure that has seen Pogba, now at Juventus, to go on to become a highly valued midfielder.

With Pereira also coming to the end of his contract there were mutterings that a similar occurrence might happen.

However, we can happily report that will not be the case as the club has announced that the 19-year-old midfielder has put pen-to-paper on a deal that will tie him to Old Trafford until 2018.

Speaking about securing the future of the youngster Louis van Gaal has remarked,

“He can be a big part of the first team.”

We should add, given the chance!
