And so we move another day closer to the closure of the transfer window and still we sit waiting for new arrivals to be confirmed.

As has been the case for several weeks now, all we`re left to debate is the constant supply of rumours that is being fed our way.

To me what is occurring, or not occurring as it may be, is almost the same as last year whereby minimal money was spent and only Marouane Felliani was acquired.

Gary Neville, a United legend and now carving out a career as a television pundit, has hi sown thoughts on the subject and is a little concerned that Manchester united, as the transfer deadline approaches, might be tempted into what he calls panic buys.

Discussing the situation, Neville has remarked in the media,

“In the last 12 months they have got Wilfried Zaha, Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini, Luke Shaw and Juan Mata.”

“I`d argue that some of those were panic buys that didn`t fit the philosophy. For that money, or for a bit more, they could have got Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos, Cesc Fabregas and Filipe Luis.”

Does Neville have a point?

If so, which of those 5 players listed by Neville would you place in the `panic buy` category?
