Oh, it finally started, the pessimists will say. Michael Owen has picked up his first injury at Manchester United, aggravating a groin problem against Wolfsburg tonight.

Fergie said: ‘Groins are difficult to say – he could be out for maybe two to three weeks. But his fitness level is good so it shouldn’t be too long.’

There’s an international break during that time so there’s a chance that Owen will miss no more than Saturday’s home game against Sunderland which, with all due respect, we should win without him. If it’s 1-1 with 20 minutes to go, we’ll feel his absence but fortunately, this team is not exactly reliant on Michael Owen…
