The gaffer seemed to be torn between the 4-4-2 and 4-2-3-1 formation last season – Vital readers apparently think he was right to do so.
In a poll suggested by united4life, we asked what formation would you use mostly if you were called Sir Alex Ferguson.
Though we presented tons of choices, very few of you were in revolutionary mood: 86% voted for those formations we used last season. 4-2-3-1, a bit surprisingly for me, defeated the evergreen, classic 4-4-2.
The 46-40 victory might not be a resounding one but certainly interesting, given the fact that fans chanted ‘4-4-2’ and ‘Attack, Attack, Attack’ while we were struggling to break down Blackburn at Old Trafford and eventually finished the game 2-1 losers in September 2005.
If you allow me to share my view on the matter then here it is: I think that only the 7-1 victory over Roma led many to believe that 4-2-3-1 is indeed a suitable formation for our team… Time will tell, for I think recent acquisitions point in that direction.
And as for direction: will Carlos Tevez pack his stuff and drive towards Manchester? What do you think? Check our latest poll!
