Opinion: We Agree With Sir Alex When It Comes To The Appointment Of A Director Of Football

|

It seems an age since it was announced that Manchester United were looking to bring in a director of football.

But could that search be set to come to a successful conclusion very shortly?

According to the Daily Mail , one man is now looking to be the favourite for the role, Steve Walsh.

Walsh, who has a decent pedigree, having filled that role at Everton whilst also, in another role as Head of Recruitment at Leicester City, adding a further string to his bow, is tipped to be the man for the job.

His appointment, according to Sky Sports, also gets the approval of Sir Alex Ferguson who sees Walsh as the ideal person to oversee the changes set to be made at the club.

Our second quoted source Sky Sports, does also suggest that Ed Woodward might prefer to bring in a former player in the role with the Daily Mail, implying that Darren Fletcher has been considered.

Personally, I’d go for Walsh, he has the experience and the backing of Sir Alex, whether the Old Trafford hierarchy agree with that remains to be seen.

But changes need to be made and they need to be made quickly to enable the club to prepare for the fast approaching 2019 / 2020 Premier League season.
