Opinion on United man’s performance in recent weeks

|

Bruno Fernandes has performed excellently in recent weeks as he has delivered in the big moments for Manchester United.

The United number eight scored third goal in seven games last night as he put the icing on the cake to clinch a 3-0 win for United over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, and it is fair to say that the United man is grasping the opportunity of helping United end their five-year trophy drought and achieve the club’s objectives of securing Champions League football.

Fernandes has shown exemplary work-rate and a willingness to adapt as he has been asked to play in different positions, such as playing on the right against Manchester City and then in the number 10 position for example, and the Portuguese has performed superbly.

He has also shown his leadership qualities because he was pleading with the officials to award United’s first goal in the Manchester derby when there was a debate of whether the goal was offside or not, however, Fernandes’s actions would have convinced VAR to have a look, and that is a true sign of a man taking ownership and responsibility to help his side win.

The Portugal international also deserves huge credit for telling Marcus Rashford to ‘leave the ball and let me finish it’, because Fernandes would have had to make that decision within a split second, and thankfully the quick thinking paid off as it helped United beat City 2-1 in the 189th Manchester derby.

In his last seven matches, he has also recorded three assists, including two that have contributed to victories in the Premier League as he set up Marcus Rashford for the winner against Wolves at Molineux and then in United’s next game, he put the ball on a plate for United’s number 10 to tap home and clinch United all three points against Bournemouth.
