Opinion: Midfielder Needs To Be More Consistent To Prove His Worth To The Team

|

In what could well be a hectic summer transfer market for Manchester United, perhaps the biggest clue as to who Ole Gunnar Solksjaer wants to stay and form part of his squad can be determined by the offers of new contracts being made.

If that is, as I suspect, the plan then it augurs well for our attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard.

According to the tabloid publication, the Sun, Lingard is set to be offered a contract extension that will see his salary increased to £130,000 a week.

Solksjaer obviously sees the international midfielder as a key component of his squad as he assesses the way forward.

In my opinion, Lingard, on his day, can be a player that has the ability to influence the outcome of a game, but am I alone in thinking that he needs to add a little more consistency to his game, or am I just being a little harsh?

  • Jobn says:

The lad is full of talent but very inconsistent and not giving it all to the club

  • Subhash says:

A talented lad, Lingard has disappointed recently. He came into the senior side with much promise though.
PRO: Creates diversion and space when attacking, scores with simple quick passes, and, scores some belters.
CONS: Lacks consistency and form, often seen running like a headless chicken, prone to go offside, and sometimes rash in tackle. Lately has been too complacent about his place in the team.
Could be his last season coming up with United.
