Wayne Rooney wasn’t charged after kissing his badge at Goodison Park which many deemed to be an inflammatory incident. However, the FA announced that as Wiley dealt with it on the field there’s no need for further investigation.

So, in short: the FA acted sensibly. Ring the alarm bells, someone infiltrated Soho Square! No, really, who would have thought it? After all, Gary Neville was punished for simply celebrating a goal at Old Trafford so I expected another ridiculous decision.

But don’t get carried away just yet. This time the FA saw sense but it won’t happen too often – and certainly not when a United player is involved.
