Oh god – and we are the ones who are nervous? Nearing the end of a routine 2-0 win at West Bromwich Albion, Jamie Carragher had to be restrained from launching himself at Alvaro Arbeloa whom he pushed in the chest after some perceived error.

After Rafa Benitez could not bring himself to congratulate United, Liverpool’s graceless campaign continues: they just seem unable to bear to face another defeat, another year of failure. However, I didn’t expect it of Carragher of all people – though perhaps he is the most deeply wounded by his club’s inability to compete with Manchester United.

I would have thought a Mascherano-Skrtel clash more likely – and more amusing as well! It’s clear that the strain of watching us celebrating again took their toll on them and while they are arguing among each other, still not one of them could get himself to congratulate us on winning the title – while all of our players admitted that Liverpool had a great season and pushed us very hard.

Oh well, we can’t expect Liverpool to be graceful in defeat, can we?
