The chance to join Manchester United is only offered to the chosen few.

However, given the chance very few actually reject the opportunity to join one of the biggest clubs in world football.

Dimitri Oberlin is one young player that was given the chance to join Manchester United but, after careful consideration, chose not to.

Oberlin, just 20-years-of-age, is currently on loan at Basel, a club in our Champions` League group.

The striker is at Basel on loan from his parent club RB Salzbug and has already made his mark scoring 5 goals in 10 appearances.

But, it seems when offered the chance to join Manchester United, back in 2014, the news vehicle Metro, carries a few remarks from the youngster explaining why he chose not to come, with Oberlin explaining,

“Yes, United had been watching me – the transfer almost happened.

“In the end I decided otherwise. My parents had allowed me to transfer, but I did not. ‘I would have started at the U18, the way into the first team would have been far. The competition would have been massive.”

I wonder if he has any regrets?
