Gabriel Barbosa’s current club Santos have insisted the only approaches made for the teenager have so far come from Italy.

United are one of those linked with Barbosa, or ‘Gabigol’ as he’s been labelled, but according to Santos president Modesto Roma only Inter Milan and Juventus have made offers.

Not United or Barcelona! I’d somehow doubt he was talking to the Daily Star but Roma is quoted by them as saying.

‘The only real offers come from Juventus and Inter. Now it depends on Gabriel. Santos don’t have to accept or refuse, the clauses for a move are in his contract and the club will respect them.’

Gabigol was strongly linked with United last week, with the player himself saying he would relish a link up with compatriot Neymar at Barca. If Jose Mourinho does want to bring the £30m rated Brazilian striker to Old Trafford he’ll maybe have to make his move soon.

His stock continued to rise at the Olympics where the 19-year-old helped Brazil to gold when beating Germany in a penalty shootout at the Maracana. Fresh rumours today have now claimed Untied interest will be ‘stepped up.’
