With speculation being cranked up that Real Madrid are set to make another attempt at taking David De Gea to the Bernabeu, this summer could certainly prove to be interesting.

Back in the summer of 2015 Real Madrid came very close to signing De Gea but a last minute glitch with a fax ensured the Spaniard remained at Old Trafford.

De Gea then proceeded to sign a new deal at Old Trafford that should have ensured any transfer speculation was ended for good.

But Real Madrid are making mutterings about bringing in a top-class keeper again, leaving Manchester United supporters felling more than a little nervous.

However, according to the Daily Star, Manchester United are set to do their utmost to thwart Real Madrid.

Our referenced source is suggesting that Manchester United are set to offer the 26-year-old improved terms, toping up the current, reputed, £200,000 a week he currently pockets.

Whether the move will succeed remains to be seen.
