It hasn’t been confirmed yet but press reports suggest our skipper’s injury is more serious than it had been thought to be.

Gary Neville could be out for six more weeks, due to the ankle ligament damage he suffered just 7 minutes into our last league game, against Bolton Wanderers.

Gary Speed seems to be always likely to take out our skippers as he was the man who kicked Roy Keane off the park in the 1999 FA Cup final. As things stand, Gary might feature in important games – but only if we get to the final of both the FA Cup and the Champions League.

Otherwise, he’s believed to have targeted the clash with Chelsea on May 9 for a return but we can’t reasonably think Fergie would play him after almost two months out so his best chance to feature in the last part of the season is the FA Cup final.

But now I firmly think that Chelsea MUST SHUT UP about injuries. WE HAD MORE INJURIES THAN THEM. Yes, I’m serious.

Terry missed some games but Gary will miss more. Park missed three months, Saha also had several minor and a more serious injury. Silvestre is out until the end of the season, Fletcher will be back at the end of April, after missing 2 months. And now Gary.

Chelsea still hide behind the injury to Cech. They refer to this as an injury-ravaged season though that’s rubbish: we had more injuries but they had the most serious one. And of course Joe Cole is out, too but they can still afford to leave Robben and SWP on the bench so that might not count for much. Add to this an unlimited transfer kitty and wage budget and you’ll see that it’s extreme hypocrisy from Chelsea to say injuries prevent them from topping the table now.

Of course, I still hope the reports about Gary are false.
